Sunset Black Monday is proud to present the amazing Ascension to The Sun a collaboration of two of the most influential goth dark wave bands on the west coast. This Ascension emerging in the late ‘80s from the atmospheric side of Goth and Trance To the Sun existed as a bright gem in the American Darkwave music scene during the years 1990 - 2001. Trance to the Sun inspired a loyal following and widespread critical acclaim with their unique brand of lushly textured and highly emotive songscapes. We considered this a great honor to have such talented individuals play on our stage. Opening the show will be Seattle's own Imaginary Daughter featuring the world renowned Finn Von Claret who's vocals power draw comparisons to Toni Halladay and Anna Wildsmith. The band carries it's own weight in it's powerful performances and you will be lucky enough see their first performance with the new guitarist. First up will be Seattle's own Blackpool Astronomy whose sound has drawn comparisons to the Cure, Pink Floyd and The Church. Vocalist, Guitarist Jeff McCollough is known for his ability to play both bass and Guitar at once and drummer Ben Madonna is known for bombastic playing style. Get here early so you don't miss a thing. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Ascension To Sun and with Imaginary Daughter and Blackpool Astronomy there is definitely a lot to enjoy.
This Ascension formed in October of 1988 when guitarist Kevin Serra, keyboardist Tim Tuttle joined forces with bassist Terry Holgate and nightclub owner/drummer Matt Ballesteros.
