Lee Hazlewood was a maverick in the best sense of the word, living by his own rules during a long, fruitful and travelled career. A writer of mega-hits (including Nancy Sinatra and Duane Eddy), an inventive producer, and a unique performer. He fathered the Countrypolitan genre with impeccable productions that ranged from cowboy minimalism to overblown brassy pop. He holds a special place in the hearts of billions, thanks to his talent for storytelling, distinctive laconic drawl and ability to write a damn good song. Many know his songs even if they don't know the man. Songs like: "These Boots Were Made For Walkin'", "Lady Bird", "Sugar Town", "Summer Wine", "Some Velvet Morning", "Rebel Rouser." His influence on modern music, and on generations of musicians is immeasurable. Stu Thomas is one such musician. Best-known for his global exploits solo and with Dave Graney & The MistLY, as well as Kim Salmon & The Surrealists, Stu is a songwriter, performer, and producer himself, and he owes a large debt to Lee for his inspiration. For one night only Stu tips his hat to the great man and his music in "The Stu Thomas Paradox presents The Songs of Lee Hazlewood" at The Flying Saucer Club on Sat March 22nd. Two sets of pretty darn magnificent music with an all-star cast of musical talents including Clare Moore (Moodists, Coral Snakes), Phil Collings (Surrealists) and Eduardo Miller (Love Brothers). Tickets available through the Flying Saucer Club.
