The Leavers / Press

“What happens when one of the top music venues in Austin has an opening slot on a Monday night? You can ask Steven Ray Will that question as he is the frontman for a relatively new band out of Austin called The Leavers. The band is comprised of some great Austin talent and was asked to fill a Monday night residency at the Saxon Pub. The Leavers’ band members are no strangers to the Austin music scene as they played sidemen to many of Austin's most popular artists including Alejandro Escovedo, Jon Dee Graham, Charlie Sexton, Will Sexton, Charlie Robison, The BoDeans, Robert Earl Keen, Bruce Robison, and Kelly Willis. This past week, the band released their debut album entitled Once Upon A Time which is available on CDBaby. If you happen to make your way in to Austin, be sure to catch The Leavers who typically follow Bob Schneider on Monday nights @ The Saxon Pub.”

“The Leavers are an Austin, Texas based band that formed in 2012. If their debut album, Once Upon a Time is any indication, they have a promising future ahead of them. Their website label’s them as a “roots-rock/Americana” band, and as far as classifications go that seems pretty appropriate. There’s a American Aquarium/Lucero feel to their sound, which translates well across the ten tracks on Once Upon a Time. This album is a keeper!”

“Their songs are rich and powerful, the execution succint. This band has something extra...”
