Big Daddy’s Family BBQ in Bartonsville has teamed up with Pocono Alliance to help support The Crossing Abilities playground which is being built in Mountain View Park, off of Sullivan Trail. On May 5th from 1-8pm, Big Daddy’s is holding a fundraiser called “Kick off for the Kids” where there will be plenty of food, live music and activities for families to enjoy. “I had the good fortune of hearing a band called "The Least Likely Gospel Rock & Blues Band". Their lead singer Norma Padgett has a gritty, soulful voice of someone who knows what she is singing about. She belted out "Hell aint got no hold on me" with as much power and conviction as Janis Joplin singing about pieces of her heart. Bass player Martin McGinnis had this to say: "We don't think there are any other bands that do what we are doing. There are other Christian bands out there but they are not playing the style of music we are, We have a very distinctive blues/rock sound but with a solid Christian message." They consider their band their ministry - and make no mistake, this is a great band with a bluesy rock & roll sound. I'm telling you if you were sitting in a bar and heard this song, the sound alone would make you sit up and take notice. And the message is like the after taste of a fine wine' it lingers long after you've got up and gone home. It is kind of thought provoking.”
