“Like some bands, The Haven Effect has a difficult time classifying its music. It’s a soft, alternative rock-type of sound, but perhaps the best definition comes when music fans hear for themselves. And fortunately, The Haven Effect’s next gig is opening for internationally known rock band Filter at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Mesa Theater and Club, 538 Main St. Filter’s sound is close to that of The Haven Effect, the local band said. The five-members of The Haven Effect have been together since June 2009. They are: Greg Pierson, bass; Damon Oribello, vocals and alternative percussion instruments; Christopher Waite, drummer; Gabe Kerr, keyboard; and Shawn Hoyt, lead vocalist and guitar. The band plays mostly original music with the occasional cover, utilizing each man’s strengths on a variety of instruments. Opening for Filter is a can’t-miss opportunity, band members said, and they are ready to rock."”
