The Harvey Dalton Arnold Band / Press

“Now in its second year, the Burlington-based band is putting together a six-song EP for national Internet release, Arnold said. “It’s really sounding good, and we’re writing all the time. It’s exciting to have a vehicle to do that,” he said. Arnold plays slide guitar and sings lead vocals. Other band members are Kim Shomaker, lead guitar; Darrell Young, bass; and Tim Carey, drums. Their Chicago-influenced amalgam of blues and rock can be heard at reverbnation.com. There are danceable blues like “Ain’t Got Love” and “Stay Here With Me A While,” and the slow burner “Baby You.” On the latter tune, Shomaker delivers a melodic and emotionally expressive solo. The guitarists have different approaches to the instrument, Arnold said. “My style is much less technical and pull-it-out-of-your-gut. … Kim is just world class, awesome. People have commented that we complement each other. It’s such a contrast,” he said. Read more: The Herald-Sun - Learning to p”

“Harvey is back; better than ever! He’s transferred his passion for the bass into slide guitar and, as anyone who has followed Harvey’s career would expect, he’s just as accomplished as a slide player and it’s apparent that the years away from the music business have only honed his talent and his voice is stronger than ever.”

“Listening to HDABB, it is difficult to imagine they have only been together as a unit for less than two years. On stage they are relaxed and comfortable yet full of energy. Saturday nights show was mesmerizing to say the least. The set list this night was a well-balanced mixture of blues and rock cover tunes including the Beatle's "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and original tunes found on the band's two available CD's.”

“The gem of the CD is the final track, an original, "Baby You". Damn if that song doesn't have everything to make it great! Wonderfully written, sung, played, produced. It will pull you in immediately.”

“Each member is a prodigious talent in their own right but collectively the music HDABB creates is unparalleled.”
