The HardChargers / Press

““‘Little Too Late’ is up-tempo, coming in on a simple-but-effective bassline, before exploding into the kind of irreverent fayre we’ve come to expect. It’s full of slide guitar in an offbeat style not unlike White Stripes musically, though Chris Todd’s vocals could not be more different than Jack White’s, especially with the deep bass-y backing vocals underneath giving the overall vocal sound a real depth and menace. Lyrically, it’s classic blues, with the protagonist just a little too much of everything that’s not good for him and his relationships. It’s a song that’s been a firm fixture in the band’s live set for a year or so and it bears all the hallmarks of a song that the band are truly happy with””

““This energetic trio happily gnaw at the roots of delta blues, showing no inhibition. The band provide a punishing sound. Described in their Irish homeland as 'Dirty Blues from Belfast’ And who are we to argue!? The band build a bridge between Delta-influenced acoustic blues and extremely tight rock guitar grooves, using Dobro, washboard and heavy guitar grooves create a unique picture.””

Paul Verhaege - Keys and Chords Magazine (Holland)

““Spanner in your Works” reminds me of The Fabulous Thunderbirds. If you have been looking for a healthy dose of blues that rocks, check out The HardChargers.””

Gary Schwind - Incognito Music Magazine

““With wonderful self-confidence, The HardChargers know their genre and know they are good at it and it oozes out of the speakers. The production has a terrifically warm, live feel to it, making the listener imagine they are sitting at the end of the bar, whisky in hand while the boys strut their stuff” –”

““Chris Todd has an amazingly authentic Delta Blues voice with an amazing unapproachable vocal range. The band’s sound embodies Southern blues rock, and is also heavily influenced by a rough garage sound.””

Paul Verhaege - Keys and Chords Magazine

““Some bands just seem to produce music that is made for us here at Incognito. A good way to grab our attention here is to have a song called “Fine and Filthy”. It does not take long to figure out that the best way to categorize this band’s music is rock and roll. And really, what more do you need? Like any good rock and roll band, the sound of The HardChargers is steeped in the blues. It’s not traditional blues, or even the sort of punk blues of Ten Foot Polecats. It is a health blend of blues and rock and roll. “Just somebody’s Friend” brings Stevie Ray Vaughan to mind, and no I don’t find that comparison sacrilegious””

Gary Schwind - Incognito Music Magazine

““It’s so quirky and unique even I find it difficult to describe, so here’s the closest analogy I can think of: it’s what might ensue if Jimi Hendrix met Velvet Underground on Muddy Waters’ front porch and then downed a crate of Jack Daniels whilst jamming for a crowd of insatiable sex-crazed groupies....only louder, and crazier!””

Frances Burscough - Belfast Telegraph

“If you like your whiskey straight and your women crooked, this band is for you”

Peter Vamos - Sinister Pete

“Retro Rock and Rootsy Blues..high octane..frenetic singing and playing. 'Bumpin and Grindin' and 'Suicidal hosepipe blues' are penned by the band and worthy comparators to the Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters covers..suitably manic certainly one to clear the cobwebs."”

"The Hard Chargers have a totally unique blues sound mixing electric and acoustic slide styles from a whole range of Blues masters. They'll be getting you dancing in the aisles."
