“... It was the first time I was seeing the Forbidden Beats although I had heard of them a few times before. As a matter of fact Danny (the drummer) and I had exchange a few email before. I must say I was surprised of their performance. The band members are fairly young and they admitted to me later on that they had not been playing for that long, less than a year if I recall correctly. Nevertheless, it was a good ska punk set. The sax riffs reminded a little bit of Roller Starter. A positive point that I notice is that their songs don’t sound too similar to each other which is a common aspect that we often hear with debuting bands. They sing mostly in English but they also played a song in French and Spanish, I thought that it reflected well the multiethnicity in Montreal, I wish more bands would do that. ...”
