The Ewing Theory / Press

“Nobody asked but perhaps somebody may be interested in what caught my ear on the drive to ref in Rock-town this past weekend (even if it’s only the bands themselves). In no particular order, these recordings all stood out from the others in the bag o’ discs that I brought along in an attempt to catch up on all the Anesthetic submissions: The Ewing Theory, A Casual Theft; Redlight Compliance, The Write Off; Goat Motor, Clean Slate; Kmang Kmang, Drifting; Stephen Paul Smoker, Ripe Fruit; Villians Company, (sic); Sam Burckhardt, Bobolink; Fight Nice, “Abbotsford;” The Blind Staggers, This Time’s a Charm.”

“The release I’m most excited about this week is Tarantula from The Ewing Theory. Tarantula is a strong follow-up to 2011′s A Casual Theft. Of particular interest is the slow drawl of vocalist/guitarist Joe Redmond. Reminds me a bit of Sam Prekop‘s days with Shrimp Boat and that’s meant as high, high praise. Musically, Ewing Theory are in that territory, too.”

“The Chicago Roots Collective is making it easy for you to see and hear some of the more adventurous bands on the Chicago music scene today. The Ewing Theory, The Future Laureates, Molehill and Jackpot Donnie are among the bands set to perform at the 4th annual CRC Festival.”

“TVD Recommends: The 4th Annual Chicago Roots Collective Festival at the Beat Kitchen, 11/16 & 11/17”

“There are any number of good songs on Tarantula, way too many for me to fit in to my interview with the band this Sunday at 7:30 on Local Anesthetic.”
