The Blue Lane
The Blue Lane is an entertaining and energetic band that merges the sounds of rockabilly, jazz, blues and traditional pop music. The band blends sultry vocals, vintage feel and fancy guitar picking.
The band was founded in Nova Scotia during the winter of 2015 by Morgan Cruickshank (guitar), Rachael Henderson (bass/vocals) and Caleb Johnson (guitar). Connor Booth (drums) joined shortly after.
In December 2016, The Blue Lane released two new singles, “Annie” and “In The Groove” from their second EP titled “BLIND,” due to be released this year. “Annie” is a classic number with four-part harmonies and a retro vibe. “In The Groove” is a rhythmic jazz adventure of improvisation and melody.
Throughout this year, the band performed at festivals including The TD Halifax Jazz Festival 2016 and the Larlee Creek Hullaballoo, and played at venues including The Carleton Music Bar & Grill and Bearly’s House of Blues and Ribs. Additionally, The Blue Lane was featured on the Bell Aliant TV show Club One New Releases.
Last year, the band released their debut EP of original music “The Blue Lane.” Three singles were released: “I’ll See You When” a Hot Jazz number with catchy contemporary vocal hooks and guitar stylings influenced by Django Reinhardt, “Walking Into Yesterday” a soulful ballad, and “Creepy Danger” a lighthearted vintage pop tune.
