Sweet Jones Style: Americana/Blues Thursday, July 9, 2015 Doors open at 6:30p, show at 7p Based in New Orleans, Sweet Jones embodies the unified musical collaboration of husband/wife team, Matthew and Melissa DeOrazio, both on guitars and vocals. Featuring original compositions, as well as creative interpretations of other artists’ songs, the genre combines elements of electric blues, roots-rock, and Americana. They share a passion for music and creative expression, developed independently over the years in their respective musical worlds. The two have been performing together since 2006, and officially formed as Sweet Jones in 2009. They perform regularly in New Orleans, as well as regionally. Melissa and Matthew are regular volunteers and members at the local community-based/supported radio station, WWOZ, believing in being a part of the grassroots process of supporting music that they and their peers make in Louisiana. They enjoy playing festivals, markets and clubs, as well as performing at alternative venues and benefits, such as St. Joseph’s Homeless Outreach Center, St Anna’s Church & Musician’s Clinic, and the Blues in the Schools (organized by House of Blues). In addition to great local support from fans and radio, they have had the opportunity to build professional support from local businesses. They are sponsored by New Orleans Guitar Company (local guitar luthier) and Earth Odyssey (local jewelry, gem, and holistic healing center).

We're excited to make the trek to North Louisiana and play in Shreveport again. Then we'll journey on to Dallas for the Guitarlington show (which we had intended to go to last year, but really needed to see Tedeschi Trucks band at the Joy Theater instead). totally worth it.
We'll be joining our friend Domenic Fusca for a quick set in the HOB Voodoo Garden.

“Not a whole lot of vocalists will match Melissa DeOrazio for a convincing delivery. And the matching of from-the-heart sounding vocals and lyrics and warm-blooded, uncomplicated melodies present on Magnolia makes for one of this year’s major listening treats. The disarming, youthful sweetness of Ms. DeOrazio’s vocal persona is coupled with a quiet emotional strength that never fails to charm. Her musical and spousal partner Matthew provides a most suitable deep-voiced counterpart as well as brilliant guitar on any given track. The New Orleans twosome’s performance and penmanship are further matched by self-production skills worthy of second careers. On a virtually flawless set, the tracks “Love Remains”, “This Bird” and “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone” stand out.”
