It's that time again!! SWAN DAY CT is coming to you March 5! SWAN DAY CT is the first multi-talented, female fronted, creative event that takes place in Connecticut. We’re going nine years strong and there is no end in sight. The line-up has 17 female-fronted bands, artists of various mediums, burlesque stars, live demonstrations, film, food & drinks, vendors and a runway show. Chicks and dudes are welcome – you just need to be 21+ to get in with proper ID. Trinity on Main (New Britain) will be hosting this one-of-a-kind event. An event to showcase the talented females of our community. It is a musical festival of 14 Bands, 25+ Artists and Vendors, Burlseque, Dance and Performance Art. Truly more Lollapalooza/Banaroo than Lilith Fair...it is a night the ladies take center stage! The bands range from Jazz, Pop, Rock, Funk, Americana, to Electro Pop...The Artists from the tame to the wild. You can dance, sing, network, eat, drink and shop all under one roof! Everything made by local artists and vendors who are making a noise in scenes outside of CT. The ladies of SWAN have been evolving and have the credentials of not only being the very best our state has to offer but also as being strong competition in their fields throughout the rest of the globe. “Hundreds turned out for the SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day CT event at the East Hartford Community Cultural Center on March 26 to see female artists, musicians, crafters and dancers perform, display and sell their works. SWAN Day CT coordinator Jennifer Hill (also frontwoman for the band Jennifer Hill & Co.) said qualifying the event was simple. “I think it went off pretty well,” she said. “I think next year we can make it even bigger. Mary Carsons, of the Manchester-based band Waking Elliot, called the event “amazing,” and said the SWAN mission of bringing female artists together was exceeded “I love seeing all the artists and the vendors here,” Carsons said.“I'm discovering a lot of new musicians that we weren’t aware of, and making a lot of great contacts. It's creating this nice community that wasn't here before...SWAN also helps put female musicians in a truer light...women are thought of as vulnerable.
