Super-String-Theory / Press

“With roots in metal and branches into jazz fusion, classical and flamenco, guitarist Aaron Roten harnesses many moods in each of his episodic compositions. He and bandmates Rick Stansfield, on bass, and Bart Kelley, on drums, have been preparing the music of their latest album, “An Invention for Times Like These,” for Saturday’s performance. Adventuresome music lovers will enjoy the complex unison passages, dynamic swoops from pristine to ferocious, and mind-blowing virtuoso flights from these musicians”

"An Invention For Times Like These" is the 3rd CD from Missouri based- Super-String-Theory. Guitarist and composer for Super-String-Theory, Aaron Roten, has incorporated musical textures from Progressive rock, Jazz- Fusion, World Music, Heavy Metal, and over- the- top guitar acrobatics that run throughout, always attentive to the importance of mood and melody. John Anderson on drums maintains the sense of flow and balance throughout, playing incredibly technical fills that sync with the guitar, and laying down infectious grooves that challenge you to keep your head from bouncing. Rick Stansfield on bass, holds everything together with his thumping bass lines, melodic and supporting of the tune. Locked in with Anderson's drums, Stansfield on bass, completes the solid foundation for Roten's dynamic guitar playing. This is a seriously powerful trio, and "An Invention for Times Like These" is by far, their most ambitious effort.
