“With Split Five I actually saw the band perform their new album “This is for Our Friends” in its entirety at a jam packed show in their home town of Baltimore, MD before I heard the studio version. The band played a great live version of all 11 tunes featured on the album at the CD release show to an enthusiastic crowd which seemed split between Split Five fans and other locals seeing the band for the first time. Both crowds left the show equally pleased. The CD has a great punk/pop/rock sound to it with a lot of rocking sounds that fans of music from bands like Fallout Boy and the Ataris will probably be drawn to. The album is very well produced and is a full 11 songs deep. Singer Billy England is a stand out strong point on the release with a voice that fits the band’s style perfectly. The album has a very charming feature lyrically. Many of the songs contain references to the band’s hometown of Baltimore, Maryland that may not be immediately apparent to non-natives of Cha”
