Somerled started with brothers Austin Goodman (Lead Singer / Rhythm Guitar Player) and Seth Goodman (Drummer / Background Vocals)
Austin Goodman started writing songs on the Acoustic Guitar, working out a 5 song EP Rhythmically and Structurally. Austin wrote a good ten songs but only half made the cut. We dont want to just pump out material fast. We don't wanna work on a song and spend tons of time on it, if we aren't that stoked on it, its not going to make it to the studio. Maybe Demo rough cut but that's about it. Me and my brothuh Seth decided to pursue recording an EP. I worked at a recording studio / film production company at this time.
We asked two of our good friends to Record with us.
Devin Avey (Lead guitar player) and Tim Cooper (original Bass Player).
We first recorded in Santa Cruz CA,
with Andy Snyder (Engineer)
At his studio called Tinderbox recording.
"Had a lot of fun recording the EP"
After the Demo was finished, we realized that a full length album was needed and began writing and recording with the full band after breaks here and there playing live shows and just taking our time letting our new material age.
Audio Engineer Andy Snyder came in and started pre-production recording our practices.
This time we recorded in our hometown, Aromas CA.
Turning our EP into a Full Length, 12 song album.
titled "Legend of Fools.
Somerled is now with their 3rd bass player. Current player is Ryan Zash, holdin it down. Both members before had to move out of state unfortunately. They did want to stay with the band/group.
Ryan Zash recorded on 7 of the 12 songs on "LOF". Tim Cooper recorded on 5 of the 12.
Original EP the 5th song was never released until full album was finished, due to more work needing to be done on it.
"cruz" (cooper bass) is the track.
Finally finishing it off in 2016 with new lead guitar work being done on it. Satisfying.
Somerled is currently Playing Live shows around Santa Cruz, Monterey CA and the Bay Area.
We will be promoting our album through live shows, music videos and any other way we can.
The biggest show we had the Honor of playing was at NASA AMES Research Center in mountain view ca, for the Ladee Mission Rocket Launch. Crowd of 5,000 people.
Somerled was formerly known as (Tone Captain) we changed our name in 2016.
•2016 We were played on Chapman Internet Radio along with KALX Berkeley radio.
2014 we were played on Orange County College Radio and in 2016 we Had an Interview on Menlo Park's College Radio The Oak Tree.

" What first drew me was their single, "Meds." It's a spare, funky song that has great flow. Austin Goodman's vocal is outstanding, like Anthony Kiedis meets Caleb Followill, and Seth Goodman, Avey and Cooper create a cool, catchy groove. "
"Gold Medal" "has a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers feel to it, catchy lyrics, and features more solid musicianship. "
"Need It" " is another song that contrasts a funky groove with stark lyrics, stellar guitar work by Avey and punchy bass and percussion by Avey and Cooper that has just the right edge. "
