Al Lewis is a singer-songwriter from North Wales whose sound is reminiscent of the classic singer-songwriters of the 70s delivered with a modern twist. His debut English language album 'In the Wake' was nominated for the inaugural Welsh Music Prize.
At the beginning of 2011 Al was picked by Caffè Nero to be their Artist of the Month, performing in stores across the length and breadth of Britain during February and March.
This coincided with the official release of 'In the Wake' and led to the album entering the Amazon Top 10 Folk albums chart upon its release.
Gathering support and praise from eminent DJs such as BBC Radio 2's Janice Long and Dermot O'Leary, Al has also welcomed encouraging support from Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson and Bob Harris, all of whom have championed Al's music on their respective BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music shows.
Cerys Matthews is also among his fans, having personally invited Al to support her at her sell-out show at the PJ Hall in Bangor in 2011. They performed a duet for the song 'Road Rage' together on stage.
Al's latest album 'Battles' was recorded and produced by Charlie Peacock (Producer of the Double Grammy award winning act - The Civil Wars) at his home studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The album sees Al reunited with long-time collaborator Sarah Howells (Paper Aeroplanes).
