This months Rootenanny brings one of the souths prized artist and banjo trickster to Steve's Live Music.
Robert Montgomery takes you back to pre-WWII style country music with his renditions of trick banjo twirling, playing and singing from the likes of Uncle Dave Macon and Grandpa Jones.
Best of all, Robert's not afraid to throw his banjo in the air, twirl it around, and continue to play while rendering an old country classic.
Robert has placed or won in literally dozens of regional and national contests, including the 2004 Old-Time Banjo National championship at Uncle Dave Macon Days. He has also won awards for old-time singing, Appalachian folk singing, mandolin, and guitar. In July 2002 he played on the Opry Star Spotlight, a live radio show on WSM 650 AM Radio in Nashville.
As always, the Georgia Crackers will play a short set followed by an open mic segment. Following the open mic segment, Robert will perform a short set before being joined by the Crackers for an no-holds barred set of old time country music.
Free of charge if you come at 6:30 and participate in the open old time jam at 6:30.
Show time is at 8pm and costs only $8.
