On the side-streets, rolling hills and endless stretches of freeway in Los Angeles, George Stanford’s new EP “Las Palmas” was born. George made a new home in a small green and white bungalow in the heart of Hollywood. Over the years George filled the home with instruments, friends, love and music. It was here that he helped create the new movement of Los Angeles singer-songwriters. George spent five years on Las Palmas crafting new sounds and making a little piece of his native Philadelphia amidst the expansive Los Angeles maze. You can watch George talk about the legendary L.A. pad here. Now living in the spiritual canyons of L.A, George found time to reflect on his time at Las Palmas. When you listen to “Las Palmas” you can hear in George’s music echoes of the spirits of folk greats like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and Ry Cooder and of the pop sensibilities and musicality of Paul Simon. While recording his forthcoming L.P. and “Las Palmas”, George had the good fortune to work with recognized Los Angeles musicians including Lissie (Sony/UK Paste Magazine’s #1 best new solo artist of 2010), Truth and Salvage Co. (Silver Arrow/Sony) and Andy Clockwise (Schizo Pop). George also found time to produce records by L.A. favorites Foster Timms and Jesse Cole, appear as an instrumentalist on records by renowned and varied artists such as Tom Rush and The Jonas Brothers, and provide tour support for Martin Sexton, Big Head Todd, Babyface, John Butler Trio among others. George is currently finishing his sophmore L.P which is expected to be released in 2013. His major-label debut ”Big Drop”(Mercury, Def Jam) and 2010 EP ‘Roll Away’ are available now on iTunes.
