Sam Shackleton, born in Lancashire and now resident in Berlin, is the most intriguing producer to have emerged during the early rise of the Dubstep scene, running the now defunct label Skull Disco alongside Appleblim from 2005 to 2008. Shackleton launched the label Woe To The Septic Heart! in 2010. Shackleton's maverick take on big basslines and complex beats doesn't fit into easy categories and that's how it's going to stay. He has been carving out his own brand of eclecticism on his releases so far with intricate, snaking percussion, hypnotic melodies, seriously deep bass lines and dubwise sensibilities.
‘Since relocating to Berlin Shackleton has left behind the dubstep hype surrounding his Skull Disco label. From his studio base in the former German Democratic Republic's broadcasting house, he handcrafts rhythms that open the door to new worlds.’ – Derek Walmsley – Wire magazine
