the GODDAMN GALLOWS, the STRIKERS & REVEREND RED
DOORS: 8 PM / SHOW: 9 PM
the GODDAMN GALLOWS: The Goddamn Gallows came from the heart of America's Rust Belt, arising from a night of flophouse violence. Drifting across the states, they cemented their sound in Portland, OR and later in Los Angeles, CA, where they lived in abandoned buildings, squatter camps, storage units and shoebox apartments. In 2007, they left everything behind and spent the next 4 years living out of whatever vehicle would get them to the next town. Building upon their original sound of "twanged-out, punk rock gutterbilly"(Life of Sin 2004 and Gutterbillyblues 2007), they began picking up stray musicians along the way and adding to their sound; washboard, accordion, mandolin and banjo (Ghost of th' Rails 2009 and 7 Devils 2011) creating a sound referred to as "hobocore", "gypsy-punk" or "americana-punk", while never being stuck in any one sound. The Goddamn Gallows continue to rapidly grow a devoted following with their volatile and spectacular live shows; a contagious, spontaneous eruption of unpredictability.
the STRIKERS: Hailing from San Diego California, The Strikers sound is a mixture of aggressive punk rock, metal and psychobilly. Joey (guitar/lead vocals) and longtime friend Donovan (drums) were tired of trying to force their musical styles into bands that did not share their vision. They began writing songs for a straight forward rock band that would not compromise its sound for anyone. Almost by luck they found Rob (upright bass/backing vocals) who also shared their vision. The trio began writing and performing, mixing their own, very different, musical styles into one aggressive “kick-in-the-neck rock n’ roll band".
REVEREND RED: From the dirty parts of LA County comes a band who "lives campfire stories, speak in tongues, channel the dead, and torture their instruments... it's like watching an exorcism on stage." They are an "up and coming band with something to offer" and their fan growth and strong gig resume is proof of just that. The people who make up the band Reverend Red are wild beast of performers and they will demand your attention and participation. They bring theatrics to the stage and are not afraid to put themselves out there for the audience. Their shows have been described by the press as captivating, mesmerizing, and best of all enjoyable. The band blends styles from each members significantly different background. The overall vision however was to bring music in the style of Murder by Death, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Those Poor Bastards, Goddamn Gallows, Legendary Shack Shakers, and 16 horsepower to Southern California. Due to their odd blend of music the band has been able to share bills with Rock, Alt. Country, Punk, Indie, Dark-Folk, Garage, and other various styles of bands, gaining fans from a large variety of genres. The instrumentation is guitar, bass, drum, and often you will see a banjo, violin, or some odd ball instrument which was probably homemade. The Reverend Red travels primarily as an electric band, but they have performed acoustic shows on special occasions.
