BLUES REVIEW FEATURING SCOTLANDS TOP BLUES MUSICIANS IN THREE GREAT BANDS... THE JENSEN INTERCEPTORS, STEVEY HAY'S SHADES OF BLUE, JED POTTS
Thursday 6th December 7.30 11.00pm
The Jensen Interceptors : www.thejenseninterceptors.co.uk/
The Jensen Interceptors are one of the most authentic and exciting Blues bands to hit the UK scene in recent years.
Playing in the classic blues style, fronted by harmonica ace Gary Martin, the band tear through a mix of covers by the likes of Slim Harpo/ Little Walter/ T'Bone Walker and Muddy Waters as well as their own originals which are all delivered with the authentic Jensen spin.
With scintillating guitar provided by Al Brown (Tam White/ Rev Doc and the Congregation) and smouldering, growling Hammond from Kirk Lothian (John Martyn/ Rev Doc') the line up is completed by bassist Keith Johnston (The Stray Tones, The Rootsie Tootsie Blues Band) and drums - Stuart Spence (Counselled Out). This is a band that knows how to shift through the gears.
Stevey Hay's Shades Of Blue - www.steveyhay.co.uk
Stevey has been burning up venues since his early days in Edinburgh. Fluent in a variety of guitar styles from Surf to Jazz, Blues remains his first love. He has toured as harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhites guitarist, and appeared on stage with Robert Cray.
No nonsense, inspired blues guitar magic - Border Events
All the members of Stevey's band have had many years of experience, backing many well known artists at festivals and events all over Europe. They are all professional musicians.
Neil Warden - Guitar
Neil is well known for his funky blues style of guitar playing, having performed at many international festivals for the last 25 years with Scottish Blues/Jazz singer Tam White. Neil also toured and played in West End Theatre shows (London) with Irish cabaret performer Camille O'Sullivan.
Dave Swanson - Drums
Dave has played with people as diverse as: Humphrey Lyttleton, Georgie Fame, Zoot Money, Louisiana Red, Acker Bilk, Al Cohn, Bobby Watson, Roy Williams, Tal Farlow, Louis Stewart, Red Rodney, Carol Kidd, Benny Waters, Charlie Musselwhite, Alec Shaw trio and Tam White and the Dexters.
Paul Manson - Bass
Making it look deceptively easy, Paul's understated bass playing has been the solid underpinning of countless Scottish bands for longer than he likes to be reminded. Sensitive in his approach to all musical genres, he has complimented a diverse catalogue of local and International performers. Long time member of Tam White and the Dexters.
