My Folkie Valentine with Annie & Rod Capps and friends
Annie and Rod Capps and friend’s 9th annual celebration of love and music. This year's line-up is gonna knock your socks off (just like every year) featuring Bill & Kate Isles (Duluth, MN – “songs with a direct line to our hearts”), The Ya Yas (Mohegan Lake NY – “joy, talent, and warmth”) and The Marvins (Rochester, MI – “honest lyrics and earthy voices”). This is some serious variety and promises some spontaneous merriment and jamming.
Songs about broken things and poignant little ponderings are delivered with a rootsy vibe, a touch of twang and a soulful groove. Annie and Rod are on a musical journey that began in 1982, culminating into a symbiotic sound that reflects their deep and intuitive understanding of each other. Annie’s disarming, earthy voice and solid command of her guitar are punctuated by Rod’s effortless, accompaniment and beautiful solo work. Together they weave unforgettable melodies that are at once intricate and sparse - musically completing each others’ sentences.
Over the years, Annie and Rod have done it all; from rock to musical theater and while they continue to draw from a wide range of genres and influences, what comes out is a hybrid sound all their own. Genuine and playful; effortless and endearing; this duo has been enchanting audiences in quality music venues, house concerts, coffeehouses and festivals throughout their home state of Michigan and beyond.
"The audience is drawn in right from the beginning with Annie's amazing voice and the power of her songs. She has a way of making everyone in the venue feel like she is his or her personal friend." – Dave Rutkofske, Blue Water Folk Society (Thumbfest)
"When I look around the room at an Annie and Rod Capps performance, I see a lot of smiling faces with eyes riveted to the stage...there is a magic that energizes an audience. I can't wait to bring them back to our concert series!" - Tim Piazza, Concerts at the Cabin, Evansville, Indiana.
Bill & Kate Isles are an acoustic singer/songwriter duo based in Duluth, Minnesota. Using a wide variety of musical styles, their performances carry audiences through a broad landscape of experiences from metaphorical worlds to small town family stories and to zany comedy. Consummate performers, they are known for their catchy melodies and memorable songs. They have a deep-seated love for the audience, and each other, and it shines before, during, and after the performance. They tour nationally, presenting their profound songs for audiences large and small, from house concerts to festival stages and everything in between. Words like “Mesmerizing”, “Transcendent”, and even, “Hysterical” are common descriptions from audience reviews and audiences members feel that they are listening to stories of their own lives, told by two of their best friends.
“Few people write songs with as direct a line to our hearts. Bill Isles' work is appealing, disarming and when sung with Kate Isles, well, nigh electric".
Two-time Kerrville New Folk Finalists and 2012 Falcon Ridge Emerging Artists, The YaYas are an engaging and uplifting trio hailing from New York's Hudson Valley region. Are they folk? Yes. Pop? Perhaps. But undeniably, they are personal. “They report on life observed, with great insight, not just centering on relationships but ranging widely — reminiscent of ‘literary’ songwriters like Richard Shindell, Dar Williams, Josh Ritter.” Their songs are stories we are all familiar with: the loss of a parent, the humorous ups and downs of marriage, the dreams of youth, the gift of friendship…Through subtle yet skillful arrangements, the powerful and expressive voice of Catherine Miles, Jay Mafale’s percussive guitar, and Paul Silverman’s melodic piano blend to create their distinctive sound. The trio’s 2010 release,Paper Boats, has received airplay on more than 125 radio stations and rose to #4 on Roots Music Report’s Folk Top 50 albums chart.
"Easily one of the best records of any genre I've heard this Millennium! The YaYas will have a Hell of a time topping this one, but I'd never bet against them-- they're that talented and that good. I'm tempted to make every other song on my iPod either "Third Girl from the Left" or "You Should Go." If there's a God, there's a Gold Record in their future."
“The YaYas brought such joy, talent, and warmth into our home! Our guests loved their music and their stories and quickly became their fans.”

"Draped in expressive vocals and solid accompaniment on guitar and keys, The YaYas brought a gift to those in attendance... a gift of well and cleverly crafted music, coupled with a candidness and approachability on stage that just drew the audience into their performance.”
Rochester, Michigan and its music-loving citizens have greatly benefitted from the relationship of Carmen Paradise and Peter LeClair. While The Marvins have only existed a few years, Peter and Carmen have been playing together since the late 90s, when both of them attended the same high school. What transpired from there is an eleven-year history riddled with ups, downs, and everything in between.

The singing/songwriting duo of Peter LeClair and Carmen Paradise have been at work for 15 years, bringing their unique blend of various genres through the organic delivery of their acoustic instruments, honest lyrics and earthy voices. Whether it is influenced by rock, pop, jazz, hip hop or bluegrass, or all of the above, their music always has a way of coming out Marvins.
