NO ISLAND -
No Island delivers a new brand of rock that blurs the lines between genres and generations. With well-crafted original songs and a unique sound complimented by keyboards and saxophone, No Island’s approach to rock is catchy, powerful, and sophisticated all at once.
Drawing from influences including Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Steely Dan, and Led Zeppelin, No Island has taken their love of innovative classic rock and channeled it in their own new direction, one further inspired by a wide range of different genres and modern influences.
Formed in 2009 by saxophonist James Wilfred Martin and guitarist/lead vocalist Keith Sinclair, No Island soon grew to include the talents of keyboardist/vocalist Andy Rice, bassist Sara Lauridsen, and drummer Mike Ferguson. Raised on rock and trained in jazz, each member of No Island shares a similar musical background in which they find their common ground.
THEIR THERE -
Their There is a six-piece alternative rock band that has been writing and performing original material together over the past 6 years, garnering a devoted following in the process. A blend of rock, jazz and folk, Their There bring forth a unique and nostalgic style of music; a retro throwback to something that hasn't quite happened yet.
Their There came to fruition in 2007 as a 4 piece rock band, and over the first few years they have developed their sound, eventually adding 2 more players, on trumpet and sax.
Turning heads with their infectious energy, chaotic live shows and their timeless melodies, Their There is a band that will leave you with an experience to remember. Utilizing flugelhorns, synth pads, djembes, and everything in between, this is a band that shows a unique quality that could only come from a blend of both classic and modern genres. These are six gentlemen who love creating and spreading their music, and if they manage to spark a connection with the world while they're at it, that makes it all the better.
Genre-bending, male-and-female-duo-fronted, indie-rock/alt-pop. A four-eyed time-lord and three grunge-obsessed/prog-inspired friends come together to thunder-punch and swan-song their way into your left-ventricles. Dubai is hyphen-music at its best.
THE COALITION -
Will Hodgins and Dylan Stickel formed The Coalition, a 3-piece progressive blues-rock band in 2009, with an idea to create innately original and thought provoking music. Currently, with Will Hodgins on guitar, Dylan Stickel on bass, & Victor Orellana-Escoto on drums and percussion, this group forms an undeniable chemistry; energizing and exciting audiences throughout Vancouver’s Lower-Mainland.
As a rock trio rooted in the blues and coloured with sounds of funk, jazz and alternative music, The Coalition strives to explore and expand musical boundaries, write original music and experiment with sound.
Tom Harrison at the Province newspaper went so far as to say, “The Coalition breaks rules because it doesn't know of any rules. So, it jams, experiments and generally is reckless....this creates unpredictability in that it's hard to guess where the trio will go next and trying to figure out what the trio will do next can be fun.... Right now, there is a delicious innocence..."
With a wide variety of influences, it is difficult to place The Coalition into one musical genre. The music of the Coalition is a true testament to their driving ambition – to create a movement of organic music that harmonizes with individuals through the uniting power of sound. With one album released and many more on the way, The Coalition continues to write new material and perform live.
