If you came of age in Riverside, you know "the Grind". It's where you met your boyfriend when his band was performing during your best friend's first art show. You had deep, philosophical conversations on the back patio while girls with dreadlocks and boys with eyeliner blew an endless stream of smoke from their hand-rolled cigarettes in your face. You sipped your first chai while studying for your first college exam while a homeless man challenged himself to a dual at the next table.
Back to the Grind is a huge space with high ceilings, worn-out coaches and hand-painted cafe tables. There is an ever-changing parade of local art covering the walls and fliers for every indie event in the IE stacked along side hundreds of books waiting to be borrowed. It's the kind of place you can lose hours in while you talk, study, read, play chess, or tap away on your laptop.
