San Diego-based brutal death metal band Disgorge is in that camp. Their music is impossible to describe without getting caught up in violent analogies.\n\nGENOCAUST has been around Tucson since 1999 with Chris Maldonado always as the root vocalist.The band had gone through different line ups until the beginning of 2002 they ran across a drummer(Mike Wyatt)who they felt fit the position.After Mike met with Chris and Rudy(original guitarist)he decided this was the band for him,left his high paying job and everything to make this band blow up.Well things didn't go quite as expected at first,the band recorded the 5 song demo"The end of all things" in march 2003 and broke up shortly after due to only having one guitarist(who had to quit due to personal reasons we will not discuss).So Mike went on to do Bound by Blasphemy with some success until him and the guitarist had a fall out.The funny thing is when the guitarist of BBB and Mike disbanded,the bassist followed Mike...so the rest is history,Mike called Chris and Brandon,told them he had a bassist with him and the reformation began.With the help of former guitarist Rudy,lots of tab and practice ...Genocaust is reborn.This time to stay!!!\n\nCEPHALOTRIPSY: When it comes to guttural slamming brutality, crushing slamz, and unrelenting pitt riffment, nobody does it better than San Diego’s CEPHALOTRIPSY. Their album still stands as far and away the best slam metal recording ever released, but they’ve been pretty quiet since then, only releasing two new demo songs. I kind of thought they were a one-and-done band, but I’m happy to say I was wrong.
