Convergence is the 3-day international Goth Convention & Festival presented by, and for, members of the Gothic and Goth fashion community. In 2012, Convergence will be celebrating its 18ᵗʰ anniversary and on June 15ᵗʰ - June 17ᵗʰ, it will be hosted by the City of Buffalo.
Since 1995, the annual event has become a chance for the Goth community, and others who normally only meet on the Internet, to come together in real life.
Festivities at Convergence typically included live bands and club nights, bazaars, fashion and art shows, panels, and tours of Goth-themed locales in the host city. It's a unique event that combines the features of both a music festival and a fan convention.
Day three of the festival features Garda and headliner, NYC's very own, Voltaire. Garda is thrilled to share the stage with Voltaire. Individually, these two performers create a mesmerizing stage show. Together, this pairing will produce a night of euphoric ecstasy that will stand outside the ordinary.
Voltaire is often described as a modern day renaissance man. He is a singer, performer, creator of comic books, animation and toys. As a musician, he is a songwriter whose music can best be described as a collection of murder ballads, tongue-in-cheek exercises in the macabre, with just enough bawdy songs about Star Trek and Star Wars to keep a Con audience rolling in the aisles.
Garda is Upstate New York's premiere dark-electrorock band. The group centers around three irrepressible vocalists who happen to be multi-instrumentalists. Chris Miller and Eric Szymanski [vocals/guitars/synths], who, along with Ken Devlin [vocals/bass/synths] and drummer Rändy Käus, single-handedly resurrects the rather fashionable sounds and attitudes of industrial rock for an unsuspecting generation.
