Monday, May 28th 2012(Memorial Day), Minneapolis, MN will mark the 4th Annual Veterans Aid Concert which will again be held at The Fine Line Music Café and be hosted by the benefit’s founder, local singer-songwriter and Iraq War Veteran, Matthew Griswold(St Paul, MN age 29). The concert’s efforts and concerns address issues that affect today’s local Veterans by providing awareness and raising funds for the resources that can assist MN veterans in times of crisis, homelessness, personal recovery and social transition from their military service and/or war time duties. The concert also acts as one of the leading local advocates in fighting to overcome the social stigma that many Veterans are labeled, judged and faced with. This year’s mission will be to make a strong effort to attract new interests to those whom may not morally support the recent or past wars, but will still see this as a humanitarian effort and not a political affiliated or driven cause. This concert hopes to create an atmosphere that humanizes the phrase, “veteran”.
Doors will open at 5pm and the concert will start at 5:30pm. Performing on stage this year will be local musicians, Indie-Folk Singer-Songwriter Thomas Kivi(Minneapolis, MN), Folk-Rock Singer-Songwriter Matthew Griswold(Host), Acoustic-Pop Singer Joel Kachel(Woodbury, MN), Folk-pop singer/songwriter Cait Leary(Minneapolis, MN), Soulful Roots-Rock Singer Joe Carey(St. Paul, MN) and the nationally respected songwriter Carl Franzen(Minneapolis, MN). The concert’s MC will be local comedian Mike Early(Woodbury, MN & U of M Student).
The concert is 18+. The door cover will be $10(FREE for veterans/service members with ID or proof of service or Game Day Twins Ticket) with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (501c3 Non Profit). www.mac-v.org !
