OCEANSIDE SOUND SYSTEM
the LEFT COASTERS
DOORS: 9 PM / SHOW: 10 PM
The OCEANSIDE SOUND SYSTEM is bringing Southern California its first real taste of high-octane, tattooed rock/ska. The new sound is a far cry from the generic “safe reggae” style of ska-rock you can hear anywhere up and down the coast. This sound is generated from an all-star line up of local favorites, easily setting Sound System apart from everyone else in the scene. Skillet, the lead singer and front man of San Diego’s punk rock menace to society, Wanted Dead, delivers his unique vocal stylings. Irieside’s, Ben Blessing, brings a rock steady vibe to the lead guitar, while Garrett Grabowski of Stone Senses anchors in the sound with plush rhythm guitar. Aaron Peterson of Stone Senses drops down the funky bass lines. Beating on the drums, you will find Sid Syrup. Local scene veteran Kendall Rogers, of The Hillstreet Stranglers, punctuates the tunes with a classic variety of percussion instruments and backing vocals. Of course, no rock/ska band can do without Kelly "The Don" Dunn tickling the ivories, and Joshua Donahue, pulls it all together with smooth lines of saxophone pillow talk. Oceanside Sound System's music explodes with the melodic aggression that you’ll feel and love (and hate!) Join the San Diego Rock/Ska movement! The REVIVERS are a collection of veteran musicians from the southern California Ska/Reggae scene featuring members of The Debonaires & The Skeletones. Their dedication to “reviving” the sounds of early Jamaican Reggae from the late 60’s and early 70’s can be heard in their authentic renditions of classic hits and obscure rarities. Regrouping in 2009, they have already shared the stage with such Reggae legends as Michael Rose, The Mighty Diamonds, Ska pioneer Eric “Monty” Morris, as well as contemporary favorites Hepcat, and The Aggrolites. They were recently given the honor of being the backing band for The Wailing Souls, Ras Michael, and Angelo Moore of Fishbone. With an EP release for Fall 2010, followed by a west coast tour, they are an exciting new force in the Reggae/Ska scene not to be missed! the LEFT COASTERS are a 5 piece band featuring horns in the rock/ska/reggae genre. The Left Coasters horn section features Brandon Corenman on trumpet and Patrick Yanni on trombone. The rhythm section is comprised of the Himmel brothers; both George Himmel on bass and John Himmel on drums. The last member of this band of misfits is Michael Ellison, the group's singer and guitarist.
