Live music from local and national artists
The following lineup of musicians will perform outside against the Modern’s reflecting pond:
This Will Destroy You—This Will Destroy You is an instrumental quartet from the great state of Texas who play a cascading brand of cinematic rock music. Often described as post-rock, the band has managed to transcend this genre and carve its own balance of electronics, strings, and an array of unconventional "rock" instrumentation over bombastic and receding harmony.
The Burning Hotels—The Burning Hotels have a sound that pulls together years of influence from the post-punk revival with the ‘80s romantic movement. It’s a combination of styles that goes hand-in-hand and what the band calls “sex punk.”
The Cush—Burette and Gabrielle Douglas bring a sound all their own to The Cush—handcrafted psych-pop suites, sculpted with the help of vintage tape delays and an inspiration that can only come from enduring the frozen tundra environs of Vermont and the open skies of Texas.
Novaak—"Vocalist Jessi James and musical mastermind Blake Panter create a slick, shimmering sonic landscape—one much bigger than the two of them." Andy Odom, Dallas Observer.
Datahowler—Datahowler is an electronic musician who bridges the gap between pulp fiction and rhythm to create nebulous textures of sound that immerse the listener.
