SUMMARY:Deja Vu - A Musical Retrospective of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young at The Coffee Gallery Backstage
DESCRIPTION:Price: $20\nAge Limit: All Ages\n\nDetails: We have a very cool show that we are really excited to present to you! Back in May of 1969, Crosby, Stills & Nash released their debut album on Atlantic Records.\n\nThe album was a very strong debut for the band, instantly lifting them to stardom. Along with the Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo and The Band's Music from Big Pink of the previous year, it helped initiate a sea of change in popular music away from the ruling late-1960s aesthetic of bands playing blues-based rock music on loud guitars. \n\nCrosby, Stills & Nash presented a new wrinkle in building upon rock's roots, utilizing folk, blues, and even jazz without specifically sounding like mere duplication. Not only blending voices, the three meshed their differing strengths, David Crosby for social commentary and atmospheric mood pieces, Stephen Stills for his diverse musical skills and for folding folk and country elements subtly into complex rock structures, and Graham Nash for his radio-friendly pop melodies, to create an amalgam of broad appeal. \n\nThe album features some of their best known songs: "Helplessly Hoping", "Long Time Gone" (a response to the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy), "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" (composed for Judy Collins) and "Wooden Ships" (co-written with Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane).\n\nTo celebrate the 50 Year Anniversary of this legendary album, we will perform it in it's entirety on Sunday, June 2nd at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena! \n\nIf you have never attended a show at the Coffee Gallery Backstage, you are in for a real treat! It is a very intimate 50 seat venue where there is literally no separation between the artist and the audience. It's a very communal experience where everyone in the room celebrates this incredible music that we have come to know and love over the years.\n\nSo please mark your calendars and make your plans to join us for this very special day at the Coffee Gallery Backstage!\n\nFOR RESERVATIONS, PLEASE CALL (626) 798-6236 !\n\nTHANK YOU AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
