Please join us for live, original music at one of the MN stops for Sharing America’s Marrow (SAM).
What is SAM?
SAM is three young women—Sam, Alex and Taylor—who are touring all 50 states in one year to educate people about being bone marrow donors. Diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia at age 17, Sam Kimura has yet to find the donor she needs to cure her disease, but she (along with her sister, Alex, and their best friend, Taylor) is determined to share with others how being a donor can save someone’s life. In their journey across the USA so far, they’ve already enrolled over 8400 people and have celebrated over 35 successful matches as a result of their project.
The SAM team will make only two stops in MN. Attendees will have the opportunity to enroll as bone marrow donors on-site, with the SAM team able to answer any questions regarding the process. Check out the video on their site http://www.sharingamericasmarrow.com to get a feel for who they are and the adventure they’re on.
Singer-songwriter Steve Noonan will perform original music with a full band 6:30–8:30pm. Rich 12-string guitar, pronounced melodies and thoughtful lyrics are the hallmark of the sound: go to Listen and Photos on http://www.stevenoonansongs.com to hear the music. Noonan released the CD I Could Be Anywhere in February 2015 and was recently featured in The Current’s blog: http://blog.thecurrent.org/2015/03/steve-noonan-paisley-park-and-pachyderm-engineering-pro-takes-the-mic-in-his-own-right/. He’s backed by high-caliber players in the Twin Cities music scene.
The event is free and all are welcome—with no pressure to sign up with SAM. Bring your friends and join us for fabulous live music and a good cause.
