Buckofive just ROCKS! Here is the info on The Swinging Richards.
THE SWINGING RICHARDS
In 1983, if you were around, and listening to college radio, you probably heard a little pop gem called "two guys, one girl". It was the Swinging Richards introducing themselves. Chris Edmonds, Bruce Smith, Victor Varnedoe, Billy Pitts and soon to be added Hoddy Ridarick were the wild boys with the great songs, big hair, and live shows that are still talked about.
They toured the southeast, opening for the mega acts of the day, ranging from Duran Duran to Ted Nugent. Their songs, "Dirty Words" "Look At You Now" and "Out Of My Head" were getting airplay, and the lines grew outside wherever they were playing. Their residence at the now defunct Baker Street included a straight 365 midnight shows where you could catch whatever rock star that was in town sitting in, such as Bryan Adams, Cheap Trick, The Byrds, Hanoi Rocks, and even Gary Busey, among others. Everybody knew they would be huge. Edmonds songs, the guitar cool of Smith, the rock steady of red headed Pitts, the stare down of Varnedoe and Ridarick, it all seemed inevitable. It didn't work out; but people still won't let them go. So get all dolled up for a swinging evening at Smith's Olde Bar. Usher in a new year and get rid of the old one in style with The Swinging Richards.
