SUMMARY:Kate Daisy Grant at The Art House
DESCRIPTION:Price: £7 / £8 / £9 / (£12 door)\nClick here to buy tickets: https://www.facebook.com/events/686413261409473/\nAge Limit: All Ages\n\nDetails: The Art House presents two highly acclaimed female singer-songwriters in one fantastic double bill performing on our house piano (with the lid off and all mic'd up.)\n\n------------------------\n\nEight years since going it alone, Daisy Chapman has proved herself as a talented and shrewd songwriter in demand. Two albums have been recorded by renowned producer Ali Chant at Toybox Studios (PJ Harvey, Gruff Rhys, Giant Sand, Seasick Steve) including her latest release, “Shameless Winter”.\n\nDaisy’s powerful vocals have been used by the likes of John Parish, for his film work, as well as TV session work. Her piano style and versatility was noticed by UK prog rockers Crippled Black Phoenix (Mascot Records), and for two years Daisy traveled as pianist/BVs with the band on tours covering every corner of Europe as well as a short trip to China.\n\nDaisy has supported well known artists such as Howe Gelb, Karima Francis and Jenn Bostic as well touring Germany, US and Poland. Two studio albums followed suit, one of which (The Green Eyed, 2009) won an Independent Music Award which then secured her slots at Britain’s leading festivals Glastonbury, Wychwood and 2000 Trees.\n\nListen: https://soundcloud.com/daisychapman/jealous-angels\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/DaisyChapmanMusic\nTwitter: @DaisyChapman\n\n------------------------\n\nBorn in London and raised on a strict diet of Bagpuss and The Beatles Kate Daisy Grant started playing the piano as soon as she could reach the keys.\n\nGigs followed, all over London…then one evening, while singing for her supper at Maison Bertaux (London’s oldest cake shop featuring the most out-of-tune piano ever heard) she met Ken Rose. Producer/ songwriter and lion-haired wizard, Ken had just returned from a tour playing guitar with Marianne Faithfull. She remembers the sinister-sweet tinkle of Danny Elfman’s Edward Scissorhands and the plink and plonk of the Clangers, and throwing open the toy cupboard, out poured her orchestra.\n\nKate's songs come from dreams, thoughts, somewhere in space, certainly not from any normal-day situation, her process is something near a trance-state. Her vocals are akin to other great female performers like Tori Amos, Kate Bush and a less aggressive Amanda Palmer.\n\nShe and her husband, Nick Pynn, won the Best Music Act of Brighton Festival.\n\nListen: https://soundcloud.com/katedaisygrant/roadblock\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/katedaisygrantmusic\nTwitter: @katedaisygrant\n\n------------------------\n\nDoors from 7.30pm@
