JEFF SCROGGINS & COLORADO PERFORM AT AVALON BALLROOM CONTRA DANCE FUNDRAISER
Lafayette, CO – (Jan., 2014)
The high-energy bluegrass band Jeff Scroggins & Colorado will perform at a Contra Dance that benefits Running River, an independent non-profit K-8 school that focuses on experiential and academic learning through nature. The annual fundraiser dance and Silent Auction will be at a new location this year: the Avalon Ballroom in Boulder, CO in order to accommodate an expected larger turnout of 300+ attendees.
The event will feature the Band, and Contra dancing, led by caller Tina Fields. There will be a Silent auction and cash prize raffle, cash bar, and food trucks from Lulu's BBQ, Sweet Cow, Waffle Cakes among others.
All proceeds from the event will go toward the Running River scholarship and arts program and support of a sister school in Uganda that Running River has helped for the past 10-years.
“We’re really excited about this event”, said Nancy Monson, director of Running River. “This fundraiser is important for the school and the community. We operate as the lowest tuition private school in Boulder County. We want to continue to offer our scholarship program to make it even more accessible for families wanting an alternative education.”
The event will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 7:00pm – 10:00pm at The Avalon Ballroom in Boulder at 6185 Arapahoe Road. The expected turnout for this event is 300 people, with a fundraising goal of $15,000. Tickets are $15 per person, adults only.
A $5 discount is available for CO Friends of Old Time Music and Dance (CFootMaD) members and students (advance purchase necessary). Tickets can be purchased at www.RunningRiver.org.
About Running River:
Since its inception in 2001 Running River has offered the community an alternative to public education. They are dedicated to offering an education that brings forth each child’s talents, gifts and passion, in order that they might, in time, serve this world with those gifts. They use a project based, experiential and academically integrated curriculum with mixed aged classrooms that meet the child where they are. Rather than standardized testing, personalized assessments are utilized to plan the children’s individual learning needs. Running River teaches through nature building a personal, life long relationship and connection to the outdoors. Parent involvement in the classrooms and school is very high as there is a strong focus on community, including service and community projects locally and globally.
