The Kennedys return to Henry Tudor House Live following last year’s sell out show, with ‘Trouble In The Fields: The Songs Of Nanci Griffith,' with special guest Edwina Hayes.
Nanci Griffith has written some of the finest and most enduring songs that have emerged from America in the last thirty years and in many ways she epitomises the very essence of Americana as a separate musical genre. ‘Trouble In The Fields’ was a CD project featuring many of the very best songs in Nanci’s canon. Artists involved included Tom Russell, John Stewart, Stacy Earl and Jerry Jeff Walker. The Kennedys, who were executive producers on the project, were so excited by the reception to the CD that they decided to take this idea of a musical tribute to Nanci on the road – Joining The Kennedys will be the wonderful Edwina Hayes, the only British based artist invited to contribute to the CD.
Acclaimed Americana artists Pete and Maura Kennedy are long time collaborators with Texas legend Nanci Griffith, having produced her latest CD, "Intersection", as well as touring the US and UK with her for the past three years. The duo also played roles in her Grammy-winning "Other Voices, Other Rooms" CDs. Pete and Maura celebrate their two-decades long creative friendship with Griffith, presenting a full set of her songs, spanning the range of the Texas singer’s career, and including classics not heard onstage since the 1980’s.
Edwina Hayes has also performed with Nanci Griffith in the past, and will be joining the Kennedys as their special guest. The Kennedys will also perform an opening set of their own material to begin the show.
