SUMMARY:ELEANOR at Fremont Abbey Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Price: $5\nAge Limit: All Ages\n\nDetails: Nelson Clay\nEleanor, Andrew Vait, & Nettle Honey\n\n7pm Doors, 8pm Show\n$5 Tickets available at the door\n\nAbout Eleanor:\nEleanor pulls the listener into close emotional orbit with metallic drumbeats and melting violin chords. Eleanor’s music is experimental yet grounded, blending an original sound with cohesive, accessible melodies. But arresting and stirring harmonies reflect that, behind every toe-tapping note, there is an artist exploring his and our own imperfect humanity. Palpable honesty and fresh lyrics echo this exploration, this struggle. And in the end, the listener can’t help feel captured, drawn into the music’s agile movement and captured by the language for its reality\n\nAbout Andrew Vait:\nAndrew Vait is an Alaska-born singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In May 2007, he graduated from The University of Miami’s Frost School of Music with a BM in jazz vocal performance and jazz saxophone. He now lives in Seattle, Washington where he recently released a 6-track EP, The Pros and Cons of Drowning, recorded at the legendary Robert Lang Studios. His live band includes a cast of Seattle musicians and they are no strangers about town: Aaron Walker-Loud on drums (Big World Breaks, The Flood), Farko Dosumov on bass (Danny Godinez Band, Michael Shrieve’s Spellbinder), Steve Scalfati on keys (Reggie Watts, Choklate, Das Rut), and Jeremy Manley on guitar (Gary Reynolds, Elder Mason). Andrew’s music speaks to the listener with the intimacy and bearing of an experienced songwriter, and his abilities as a vocalist and guitarist are a satisfying complement. Whether performing at a music festival, a nightclub or in the corner of a small coffee house, Andrew Vait will deliver a performance you won’t forget.\n\nAbout Nettle Honey:\n“Our music began three years ago in spring under sunny skies and cherry trees. It has been a lot of places since then and we have gathered some things and let others go. It is currently a mix of stinging herbs, honey, doug fir cones, feathers, mouse bones, naked juice, rainwater, and flowers from the Trader Joe’s dumpster. After so much time in dark musty closets it has fermented into a concoction you’ll still still be feeling the next morning.” - From their Myspace\n\nAbout Nelson Clay:\nNelson Clay Barnard. A freelance audio engineer that combines technical prowess, with a skilled musicians ear, and a heart for people that won’t stop. You will find him running sound or recording for local and touring bands over 100 nights a year at venues including but not limited to The Vera Project, Sunset Tavern, The Paramount Theater, Chop Suey, Nectar Lounge, and the Space Needle as well as at festivals such Folk Life, Bumbershoot, and Capitol hill block party. His days are then spent sharing this experience with with the next generation of sound engineers in live sound, and recording classes for the Vera Project, The Kirkland Teen Union Building, Seattle Center Academy and The Fremont Abbey Arts Center.
