Les Moore and his band of bluesmen have been singing and playing music for a very long time.
Les, a journeyman St. Louis blues player for over 20 years, has relocated to southwest Virginia, his original home place. He is a singer, guitarist and harmonica player. His guitar style intersperses blues chords and jazz formations. His harmonica stylings intertwine the Midwest and Piedmont influences he grew up listening to. Les sings the blues, jazz, soul and even a little country music!! His eclectic style has won him fans in Patrick and Floyd County, Roanoke and Greensboro and surrounding areas.
Top Greene, better known as “Big Bill”, has been playing piano since he was 4 years old. His playing has been influenced by the gospel music he has played all his life. His transition to include blues and jazz was effortless, as he and Les have a true feeling for the music and enjoy working with each other. Big Bill also sings backup and is a truly talented musician in his own right. His sense of timing and rhythm contribute to the bands success, as in the words of Ray Charles, “They makin it do what it do!!”
Little Bill Greene, is the bands drummer extraordinaire. This young man is the son of Top Greene and like his father grew up playing music in the church from an early age. Bill is a quiet and unassuming young man…until you hear him play the drums!! His youthful enthusiasm and skillful artistry draws the crowd into a moving experience.
The Trio has played a number of venues, from the premier resorts of Wintergreen and Primland to the local Apple Dumpling and Peach Festivals with some restaurants and clubs throw in the mix also.
There you have it, The Les Moore Trio. Now come on out and feel it, hear it, see it and dance to it!!!
