Benefit Concert for Tammy Sue Blankenship: Saturday, Dec 7th, 2013, at the Coffee Pot, Roanoke, VA. 5pm to midnight.
Featuring The Bluegrass Brothers, Blue Mule, The Harwell-Grice Band, The Locust Mountain Boys, Southern Rail (formerly 220 South), and Mike Jones and Friends . No set door fee, but we do suggest a $10 per person donation for Tammy.
Tammy Sue is the daughter of Jerry Wood, Blue Mule’s fiddle player, who has recorded with most of the regional bluegrass, country and even swing jazz artists in the Roanoke area, including all of the bands performing at this benefit for Tammy Sue. Tammy Sue suffers from polycystitis kidney disease, a hereditary disorder that forced the removal of both of her kidneys in July of this year. She is now on bi-weekly dialysis as she awaits a kidney transplant. Her medical and financial needs have understandably created a financial crisis for her and her family, hence this special benefit concert for her.
