Who Gives A Hair? Benefit Concert
On the evening of Saturday, November 16, come out to the Avenue Café in Lansing, MI and give to a great cause: Alopecia Areata! Enjoy the music of local Lansing band, Down Maggie!
Imagine waking up one morning without hair. Would you recognize the person staring back at you?
Hair is so important in our society. When describing a person, one of the defining features and often first characteristic listed is their hair. It sends a message about an individual’s health, social status and identity.
Alopecia areata is an auto-immune disease which causes hair loss. It does not make people sick but can have a big emotional impact on a person’s life. I was diagnosed with alopecia areata at 12 years old, so this event has great personal significance. Come learn about alopecia and if you’re moved- donate to this good cause.
*100% of the proceeds will be given to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, www.naaf.org*
Founded in 1981, the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) is a nonprofit organization which provides support to those with the disease, conducts scientific research and educates the public.
For those who would like to donate but cannot attend or would prefer to donate electronically, go to www.Paypal.com. Click “Transfer” and then click “Send someone money.” Enter your email and the amount you wish to give. Send the notice to my dad, Tom Riley, at TPORILEY@aol.com.
