Highland HeyDays will be Sept 14 & Sept 15. This event to bring together families, friends, neighbors, and pets together to celebrate our great community!
Highland HeyDays is an exciting family event that will feature Horsin’ Around in Highland and Pet-A-PALooza…bringing back a street fair, square dance, vendors, demonstrations and much, much more! Highland HeyDays is geared toward bringing families, friends, neighbors and pets together to celebrate our great community. People from our area have an incredible passion for animals, our neighbors, and community organizations. This must-attend event evolved from the Horsin’Around in Highland that had been previously organized by the Highland DDA. This year, the Highland-White Lake Business Association has teamed up with the DDA, and will be organizing the event with their support, along with the involvement of community businesses and organizations.
On Saturday, September 10th, Highland HeyDays will kick off the day with a 5K Run which benefits both the Aicardi Foundation and Highland Conservancy. At 6pm, Horsin’ Around in Highland returns and everyone is invited for a boot-scootin’ good time with a square dance, beer tent, a chili cook-off, and ending the night with DJ dance music. Also, Highland Feed owners Mike & Deb Maher will provide some great eats as a fundraiser for Aicardi Foundation, a cause close to the hearts of the family because a niece had suffered from the illness.
From 11am-4pm, on Sunday, September 11th Highland HeyDays continues with the Pet-A-PALooza street fair for families and pets in our community, which includes booths for local pet rescue groups, animal magic shows, pet photos, parades, demonstrations, arts & crafts, “Rock & Roll K9s” (pet agility choreographed to music) and so many more exciting attractions. Children will enjoy the bounce house, face painting, the petting zoo and the all of demonstrations, displays and activities. A portion of the proceeds from this fun-filled street fair will benefit Community Sharing, a local non-profit organization assisting families in our area.
Families often look for new and exciting activities before the new school year approaches, and this year, we have decided to bring the old street-fair back to our neighborhood, as we had back in the ‘hey day’. This event will be free of charge -- and there will be opportunities to support local non-profit organizations. Highland HeyDays will surely put a smile on your face, and mark your calendar for years to come. We look forward to seeing you in the early fall!
