The end-of-spring/beginning-of-summer deserves a party, and John Zipperer is bringing his Friends to Fiddlers Crossing for a musical one on Saturday, June 29. This will be music for the pure joy of it, from swing tunes to long-forgotten pop songs given new life. Zipperer and his gang of four are based in Los Angeles and have found a following throughout Southern California, including the Antelope Valley.
From the excellent acoustic guitar playing and singing of Zipperer, the bass foundation of Jim Van Booven, the inspired lead guitar work of Barrett Tagliarino, the beautiful harmonies of Tara Sitser, to the antics of Ed “The Spoon Man” Terry, the evening will be full of fun and surprises. As one reviewer said of Zipperer, “He takes you on a ride. Each journey will include smiles, laughs, foot stomping, hand clapping, singing along, plus a few serious and thoughtful moments, and perhaps even a couple of tears.”
Fiddlers Crossing is at 206 East F Street at Robinson Street, in Downtown Tehachapi. Tickets to the John Zipperer “party” may be purchased next door at Mountain Music, at The Apple Shed, or with a credit card by calling 661-823-9994. Tickets to the concert are $15, and as always, coffee and goodies are included. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30p.m.
