The Cosmic West headline a night of harmony-drenched Americana, Country and Western with The Van Lears and The Serenaders.
The Cosmic West is an Atlanta band that sounds like its name. Their music evokes that spiritual realm of the mythical American West in a way that was pioneered in the late 1960s by Georgia's own Gram Parsons. With two guitars, bass, drums, fiddle, and two-part harmonies, they mix a handful of Gram covers with their own unique blend of original songs that conjure up images of lonesome trains and ghost towns as seen through the eyes of a dreamer in the old west.
The Van Lears are brothers Trey and Andrew Bentley, and these two young men bring a musical maturity far beyond their years. Trey and Andrew were born and raised in Red Bud, Georgia, grew up with songwriting parents, and, quite literally, were making music before they could walk. Trey's lead vocal and Andrew's harmonies are reminiscent of their favorite sibling duo The Everly Brothers, but, as you will hear, The Van Lears have their own distinctive harmony only brothers can share.
The Serenaders, an Atlanta-based "modern retrobilly" band, originally formed in 2007 with founding members Barton Caplan (singer / songwriter) and Joel Glogowski (bass, vocals). Now a quartet including Danny Arana (guitar, vocals) and Cal Ellis (drums, vocals), The Serenaders music spans topics ranging from endearing love songs to obsessive Hollywood fandom, blending elements of rockabilly, country, doo-wop, and rock.
