AMIGO THE DEVIL: Two arms, two legs and an active imagination. This project was born in San Francisco during the largest snowstorm of the season. As it snowed in my apartment, it rained down my throat and i was warming up to the idea of following through with a solo project. I had been listening to so many different genres at the time that I couldn't really pick any specific influence to chase as an outline so I began to play around with different instruments. The base of "Perfect Wife" was the first song written and it will always have a warm spot in my heart. The lyrics all came through on the violent side, but the music itself still sounded melodic enough. I personally think it's a lighthearted song. Shit, I knew I was happy with that. I guess I wanted to write songs that leaned towards the night without sounding too dark. I wanted to write songs that emphasized the silence as opposed to simply filling it. The songs will come and go, change outfits every once in a while and maybe even have mood swings, but in the end, they're all still the most complete outlet I've had to get these stories out of my head.
the HATERS 714: "Bring the show to the show" - so sayeth Eli Rainwaters, energetic frontman of the punk-rock-and-roll powerhouse, The Haters. The Haters roots can be traced back to 2003 when the aforementioned Rainwaters started jamming in his garage with various local punk rockers. The revolving door of Haters included ex-members of local bands like The Adolescents, The Co-Dependants, El Nada and Famous Last Words. Finally the line up settled in 2007 with the dynamic quartet of Eli (vocals), Erik Shunn (bass), Dustin Hubbard (lead guitar) & the world famous Shaun Coe on drums. The Haters sound is directly influenced by the plethora of great punk bands from Orange County, CA (Agent Orange, The Adolescents, Social D to name a few), as well as the classic UK bands (The Clash, Sham 69, Sex Pistols). Mix in some high energy rock-and-roll jet fuel (think Supersuckers, Rose Tattoo, Motorhead, Rocket From the Crypt), a healthy dose of The Misfits, and just a touch of funk/R&B (James Brown, The Gap Band, Morris Day, Cameo) and you start to get a sense of what the Haters are all about. The Haters live show has the intensity of old school punk, but with the fanatical energy of a Southern Baptist church revival...with Eli preaching the almighty gospel of punk rock!
DMF plays punk rock songs about drinking, fighting and fucking - what more could you ask for?! They're loud, filthy and a bunch of social misfits fueled by booze, infectious riffs, thundering bass lines and high-octane drums. This trio has been blast
STRAIGHT LACED CROOKS is five psychopaths playing hard-hitting Rock ‘n Roll coming straight for your throat! The band is a fresh mix of old school punk and vintage high energy rock ‘n roll. With sharp dressed looks, and even sharper riffs, they cut through the sea of boring music like a hot knife through satin kissed skin! With each member coming from different backgrounds, but with a shared love of that hardcore bitch known as punk rock, Straight Laced Crooks brings a very diverse sound that is appreciated by everyone from punks and greasers, to skate rats and glam kids. They have grown up just enough to refine their sound, but not enough to lose their edge. This is a band raised on mosh pits and whiskey. This is a band in love with sex and violence. This is a band that leaves nothing left on that bloody, sweaty, battlefield of a stage. This… is Straight Laced Crooks.
the YUCKS: started in a bathroom in Golden Hills in 1998 with the intention of being able to get into bars for free and drink for free. It eventually escalated into the entity that it is now.
the SEKS: A couple of local San Diego pervs, Nox and Jawsh, got together and pulled in a couple of San Diego legends to fill in the void of music that was quite apparent. They enlisted Gaylene (Noisegod) and Chris (Dead Daze) to round out the rhythmic talent and started writing some of the filthiest, yet most elegant "alternative" music one could hope for. Gaylene has moved on to focus on her own punk project and Luis Youth has been enlisted to keep the show fresh and SeKsy. With themes ranging from storybooks to politics to attitude, the SeKs are a dynamic band that'll hold your attention until your pants fall down.
