“From the Delaware State News: Sundays Cooldog Concert Series program will have a decidedly local flair with former Dover and Woodside resident Sean Cheezum opening for Dover native Casey MacKenzie and her Berklee College of Music counterpart Liz Longley.Playing a six-string guitar with his own brand of catchy rhythms and heartfelt lyrics, Mr. Cheezum has frequented the Delaware and Maryland music scene for the last few years. Not a believer in genre limitations, he said he’s influenced by everything from drum and bass electronica to ambient monk chanting and old swing. “I listen to all types of music, including monk chants and metal. But my favorite is electronic,” he said.“I think the driving bass drums and trancey feel of the electronic music I listen to helped forge the percussiveness of my (guitar) playing.” He looks to one artist, Grammy-winning guitarist and singer Ani DeFranco, as a huge influence.”
