“The new track, 'The Vanguard Marches', is absolutely massive, with reverb-laden vocals amidst a maelstrom of thunderous riffing, breaking briefly for a tranquil interlude before re-launching with renewed intensity; played loud, it is simply the perfect epic metal. What sets Runes of the Evening above many of their contemporaries is the skillful dynamism of their compositions. Everything fits perfecltly into place: wistfully melodic solos, intense blastbeats, powerful rasping vocals. A superb debut, and if the intro of 'Of Bravery and Will' doesn't please you, you probably just aren't into this kind of music. Score: 5/6”
