Vince Charming is a Bay Area singer-songwriter whose blend of Americana, roots rock, alt-country, folk-rock, rockabilly, and bluegrass has made him a fixture on Northern California stages for many years. Performing as both a solo artist and with the Vince Charming Band, he has built a reputation for strong songwriting, seasoned musicianship, and engaging live performances that balance original material with carefully chosen roots-inspired covers. After a five-year hiatus from live performance, Vince returned in late 2022 with the Vince Charming Band album Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. In spring 2024 the band followed that release with So Totally Right, a live performance video and digital EP featuring four songs sharpened through a year of live shows. In fall 2025 Vince released two solo singles leading up to his six-song solo EP Man Out of Time, released February 27, 2026. The title track has since begun finding its way onto community radio playlists. The band describes its sound as “Roots Music…and Beyond,” drawing inspiration from artists such as Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Rolling Stones, Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, and Neil Young. In 2026 Vince revamped the lineup of the Vince Charming Band, bringing together a dynamic group of players from across the Bay Area. Drummer Dave Solon has anchored the rhythm section since spring 2025 with a steady, groove-oriented style. Bassist P. Airbass brings deep Bakersfield-inspired roots to the low end, while guitarist and mandolin player Andy Charmatz adds versatility and texture that push the music into new territory. Harmony vocalist Christina Braa, a veteran performer of stage and screen, rounds out the sound with rich vocal harmonies that elevate the band’s live performances. With members based in Napa, San Francisco, and Berkeley, the band performs throughout Northern California in a variety of formats ranging from solo acoustic shows to duo and trio performances to a full electric band. Over the past several years they have appeared at venues and events including the Riptide in San Francisco, Winter’s Tavern in Pacifica, Jam Cellars in Napa, BR Cohn Winery in Glen Ellen, TreasureFest on Treasure Island, the Fourth Bore in Orinda, Jettywave Distillery in Half Moon Bay, the Ivy Room in Albany, Nickel & Nickel in Oakville, Elevation LVK in Livermore, Slow Hand BBQ in Martinez, The Garden by Tannery Bend in Napa, and the Sunset Concert Series at the San Francisco Zoo. Whether performing an intimate acoustic set or a full multi-set electric show, Vince Charming and his band bring a distinctive Northern California roots sound shaped by decades of live performance experience and a deep love of American music traditions.
