Formed in early 1999, Xakestar is a Persian rock band that began in Tehran, Iran, and later performed in Falun, Sweden, and Zurich, Switzerland. The founding members include Moe Khojasteh (lead guitar, bass, synthesizers, and lyrics), Hani Rajabi (lead vocals, keyboards, synthesizers, and electronics), and Behruz Bazargan (drums). While still based in Tehran, the band delivered two highly successful performances at the Farabi Hall, which received widespread acclaim in Tehran's music and art circles. After their second show, legal restrictions in Iran prevented the band from continuing to create and perform music in their preferred style. At these events, they played a mix of original compositions and covers from renowned bands such as Moonspell, Hypocrisy, and Bathory, incorporating their distinctive electronic influences. Eventually, Moe let go of drummer Behruz due to technical issues, leading the band to work with session drummers.
