RETRODEMON / Press

“Retrodemon delivers some nuclear powered Stoner/Sludge inspired by Sabbath, Corrosion Of Conformity, Black Label Society, Down, heavier Alice In Chains, Kyuss, Monster Magnet... Super Heavy Riffage all over the place and some twisted yet melodic vocals, for a fist pumping, wall blasting, high voltage bomb. It even includes an overdriven cover of "Ride The Lightning"!!!”

“Southern California’s Retrodemon is a four piece who combine heavy riffs and catchy melodies for an interesting listen. The band’s sound is a cornucopia of stoner, southern, and heavy rock. It's one that could be heard on mainstream radio, but what sets Retrodemon apart is their talent and the actual substance to their music. They do have soaring choruses that are very catchy, but likewise they have technical and very proficient guitar solos and grit. There is an Alice in Chains and Down vibe to Retrodemon’s sound, and yet the album also features a cover of Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning” and Slayer’s “South of Heaven.” They probably show you where Retrodemon’s head is, musically speaking. Retrodemon would please the mainstream and underground fan. They have very catchy vocals and choruses, but also feature heavy riffs and technicality. This is a great place to start for a band that should have many more releases to come.”

“With a list of players that reads like a who’s who of the Santa Barbara music scene, we’ve got no doubt these hard rockers will bring the heat come semifinals time. Sonically, they’re a dark and twisted take on early Soundgarden, sprinkled with nods to Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, and the Melvins. (Read: lots of head banging, lots of epic guitar solos.) Playing Tuesday, October 11, at Velvet Jones.”

“A reminder as to why old-school metal was so darn popular. Retrodemon pulls up the roots of metal, bringing us back to the good old days of early Metallica and Black Sabbath with powerful riffs and clean vocals.”
