Rako Pasefika / Bio

Our Rako family came together in search of a safe space to learn, to express, create and to nurture our creativity. Our love of life and the progress of our people is an ever-present theme in our works and continues to mold our outlook and our experiences. Our spiritual commitment to each other and our creations has allowed Rako Pasefika to progress and evolve over the years through a very organic process with strong family values as our foundation. Rako has seen many phases in its growth, sometimes surrounded by love and support from our family's, other times walking hand in hand through clouds of self doubt and worry. We have seen the best and the worst of what life has to offer.

MamaHanua..Mother, Earth, our land, our skies, our oceans…it is not just a compilation of our music, but it is our story. It carries with it many messages that speak of our life experiences, emotions embedded deep within our beings. It sings of happy moments full of laughter, love and hope and also our times of despair, fear and darkness. It is where our dreams become a reality. It speaks of our family, and the hope and light of the children born and growing up in Rako. We have been together in our youth, we have been at the birth of each others children, we have sat beside each other mourning the passing of beloved ones and we have rejoiced in the sanctuary of our little community. At every point we faced new challenges, learnt invaluable lessons and grew spiritually. As our aspirations grew and evolved, so did our message and the people we inspired and motivated.

MamaHanua …Mother Earth at the core of our lives, looking over our Rako family, Our loves, our arts, our mama's and all their tribulations, their beauty and their strength. It is dance, it is music, it is a call to action to care for one another, to focus on unity, to safeguard our land, look in awe to our skies, clean our oceans and join in unity with people. We are ocean people, we are earth people, we are family...
