Q: How do you feel about artists offering their work for free? Surely, it isn't free to create music, not to mention the time spent during the creative process, etc.

A: I learned a unique lesson about this during a conversation with a friend...I believe it devalues the music...I didn't always believe this, but I am now convinced. Why wait for an album of songs, when most Hip-Hop and even R&B artists are releasing, in some cases, very good music for absolutely free? There is really nothing to look forward to. The "mixtape" game has changed big time! No longer are artists releasing snippets of "exclusive" tracks, but they're releasing full length albums calling them "mixtapes" and the following "album" for sale fails to deliver...I don't want to feel gypped whenever I purchase music. By releasing music for free, it's almost as if the artist is saying I don't have confidence in the consumer to buy this, or confidence in myself to stand behind my product. It's odd to me how these artists can be so arrogant in their music, but not have confidence that they will retain fans who are willing to purchase quality music.
